Tayla grew up in the heart of Tennessee and started singing with her grandmother at an early age. Her father, Ernie, played guitar in Loretta’s band and her home was full of music. “I can’t remember a time that I wasn’t in the wings in some town somewhere, watching my memaw and my daddy on stage,” she recalls.
Touring with Loretta opened the door to her record deal with the trio, Stealing Angels. The girls toured the country, sang for our troops in Iraq/Kuwait and made a record with Paul Worley (Dixie Chicks, Lady Antebellum, Sara Evans). Their songs “He Better Be Dead” and “Paper Heart” both made the Billboard chart.
Tayla signed with indie label London Tone Music in 2016 and released her EP titled “The Ranch” which includes a whimsical conversation between grandmother, Loretta and Tayla. Also their duet, “Honky Tonk Girl” brings old country music lovers back in time.
Lynns current project is a solo album that will reflect her personal journey over the last few years. As she began to reflect on the heartache and joy she’s experienced songs began to flow. Writing such songs pinned by Lynn, Lori Mckenna and Liz Rose about her grandmother “She’s the Blue in My Eyes.”
Family friend John Carter Cash (Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash’s son) at the producing helm, this is sure to be not only a family affair, but also an album reflecting the roots that have kept Tayla strong through the storms of life.
After her “Mama” passed away in July 2018 Tayla halted the making of the record to grieve and make sure this is a record her Mama, Cindy, would be proud of. Set to be released now Thanksgiving 2018.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Tayla is also stepping in to film and television opportunities. She wrapped her first film as the leading role in a faith based film directed by mark Nicolosi. The film was released Christmas of 2017. It is now on tour with co-star Duane Allen, The Oak Ridge Boys. Tayla was nominated for “Best Leading Actress” by International Christian Film Festival for her role as Rose in “The Least of These”.
Tayla is currently on tour with Tre Twitty, Conway Twitty’s grandson (these two are magic together).
Tayla and her husband, Jon, recently purchased 30 acres connected to the Loretta Lynn Dude Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN where they are raising their two sons, Tru Diamon and Scout Michael. She is embracing this season and her writing reflects her newfound contentment. Together the family have a goat farm and a downtown Waverly Music venue.
Keep an eye out for this gem, she has every intention of continuing the Lynn family country music dynasty.
